There are many different boilers
on the market these days.
Below
is a general procedure for carrying out a service on a open
flue central heating boiler. Note that some of
these
procedures may not be applicable to your boiler type
but is a good guide to the right services.
Please
not this is only a guide to how a boiler services should take
place and
only should be carried out by a corgi
registered
installer
Step 1
Carry out preliminary checks
Light the boiler and put in to full operation and that
all functions are working properly
Check that the right ventilation has been provided
Check flue terminal location and free of defects
Look for signs of spillage (if applicable)
Step 2
Servicing procedures
Isolate gas
Remove casing
Remove the main burner assembly and clean and check,
(a) main burner
(b) injectors
(c) electrodes
(d) thermocouple
(e) gas valve
(f) pilot
Clean the flue ways
Check and clean the fan (if applicable)
Re-assemble the appliance
Check appliance seals and joints (if applicable)

Ignition of boiler
Electrics
Safety device working properly
Controls working properly
Gas connection
Flue flow test (if applicable)
Spillage test (if applicable)
Burner pressure too manufacturers instructions
Gas rate set too manufacturers instructions
Leave the site clean and tidy condition
